Design Story

The composition reads top to bottom like a crest panel: arched lettering that curves with the vessel, a crowned shield carrying a navy ground and a gold devil profile in sharp silhouette, laurel branches opening symmetrically on either side, then a banner reading DUKE BLUE DEVILS. Below, a medallion letter D sits inside a gold band that circles the form and visually breaks the vertical run. Small blue stones punctuate the metalwork. The cream quilted texture behind everything works as negative space with a soft diamond rhythm, keeping the navy and gold from crowding each other. Restrained palette, high tonal contrast, clear hierarchy.
