Design Story

The composition is strictly hierarchical. A cream cartouche occupies the front-facing focal area, framed by scrolling ornament that thickens at the corners and thins along the edges \Uffffffff a border that guides the eye inward rather than competing for it. Within that panel, the blue devil profile sits inside a laurel medallion, the single point of true saturation and the visual anchor of the whole design. Type stacks around it in calm order: the university name above, the team name below, a small EST. 1838 plaque closing the sequence. Beneath, a colonnade of vertical ribs repeats down the base, echoing the tumbler's own proportion. The contrast is between cool navy fields and warm pale negative space, and it is that restraint that makes the ornament read as heritage instead of decoration.
