The eye lands on the helmet first. It sits centered in a raised rectangular panel, sculpted rather than printed, catching light along its crown like an artifact pulled from a trophy case.
Design Story
Everything here is built on restraint. A cool pewter-grey field dominates the wrap, broken only by two vertical scarlet stripes that run top to bottom and give the composition its vertical rhythm. Above the helmet, an arched plaque reads OHIO STATE in scarlet over BUCKEYES in dark lettering. Below it, BUCKEYE FOOTBALL and a smaller line of text close the panel. Buckeye leaf medallions sit at the corners like fasteners, framing the focal area. The base band shifts into a darker, low-relief architectural frieze of OHIO STADIUM with OPENED 1922 beneath it, turning the bottom third into a quiet historical footnote rather than a competing headline.
Use & Experience
On a tumbler, that hierarchy works. The scarlet stripes echo the vertical proportion of the silhouette, the helmet panel holds the front-facing focal area at eye level, and the darker stadium frieze visually grounds the base. The handle reads as part of the same tonal family, so the graphic stays the loudest element without shouting. It has carry presence on a desk, in a stand, or on the way to a game.
